Jean amazes audience of all ages

Thanks to Jean Wilson who chauffeured a small but enthusiastic team of Guild members to Omaha on Sunday, March 12th. We traveled west for two hours to see the amazing exhibit of the handwritten Saint John's Bible.

This small, but mighty team of 4 calligraphers included Beth Brand, Kay Johnson, Tom Cameron and Jean Wilson took the trip to the Joslyn Art Museum in Omaha, Nebraska to expore the amazing work of Donald Jackson and his team of artists who've been working for 7 years on this contemporary masterpiece.

We examined the beautiful work and studied each stroke. The exhibited pages explained steps taken to create each work of art and preserve the message. It included letters of permission from the Church to structure the pages and paragraphs in such a way that the aesthetic is as important as the message itself.

Our day was rewarded with an invitation to participate in the museum's Family Day! We shared our calligraphic talent to enthusiastic children and adults who were impressed with every stroke of our makers. It was especially fun to demonstrate to a child how to use the felt calligrahpy markers and write his or her name on a book mark.
